The coast around Taghazout has some of the best and most varied waves in Africa: long right-hand point breaks for experienced surfers, and sandy beach breaks where beginners learn. Here are the main surf spots and the level each one suits.
Point breaks (intermediate to advanced)
- Anchor Point: Taghazout's most famous wave, a long right-hander just north of the village. At its best on big winter swells. Experienced surfers.
- Killer Point: a powerful right-hand point further north that picks up a lot of swell. Experienced surfers.
- Hash Point: a smaller, mellow right-hander right in front of the village. Good for intermediates on smaller days.
- Banana Point: a softer right-hand point south of Tamraght, popular with longboarders and improvers.
Beach breaks (all levels)
- Panoramas: a sandy break between Taghazout and Tamraght with gentle waves. Our main spot for surf lessons.
- Devil's Rock: a beach break in Tamraght with peaks for every level, about 5 minutes from our Camp N2.
Day trips
- Imsouane: about an hour north, a bay with one of the longest waves in Morocco. Ideal for longboarding and long, slow rides.
How to choose the right spot
The best spot changes every day with the swell size, the tide and the wind. As a rule, the point breaks need bigger swells and are best from November to March, while the beach breaks work in smaller conditions and suit beginners all year. Surf etiquette
- The surfer closest to the peak has priority: do not drop in.
- Stay out of the way of surfers riding a wave when paddling back out.
- Surf spots that match your level: the famous points get crowded and are not for learning.
